On January 12th, 2024, the final presentations were held in the MA-Seminar “Challenges in Business Management” with Siemens CFO Prof. Dr. Ralf P. Thomas and Prof. Dr. Thomas M. Fischer (Chair of Accounting and Management Control).

In the winter term 2023/24, the seminar focused on „The role of the finance organization in digital transformation.“ Throughout the seminar, MA students explored various facets of digital transformation and extended their research and understanding in discussions with senior Siemens managers. This direct industry involvement was a valuable and unique addition to the individual academic journeys. During the presentation day, the students explained their key findings and summaries on critical topics in digital transformation, such as data governance and its transition to data mesh, the individual company approach versus alliance in ecosystems, the combination of Robotic Process Automation and Machine Learning in finance, and the impact of digitalization on financial instruments.

Each student presentation was followed by insightful discussions with Siemens representatives, who provided a corporate perspective and encouraged deeper exploration of the implications for the respective topics.

We express our heartfelt thanks to Prof. Dr. Thomas, Mr. Toralf Bezold, and the Siemens senior managers for their exceptional support and contributions throughout the seminar!
